Peak shaving, from your bill to year ten.
It starts by reading your TNB bill and ends a decade later with a system we still stand behind. Here is everything UniBess handles to cut your Maximum Demand: the analysis, the design, the financing, the build, and ten years of support.
A cycle, not a hand-off.
From the first bill to year ten, one team runs every step and keeps optimising. Here is the loop.

More than peak shaving.
Peak shaving is the headline saving, but the same battery earns its keep in three more ways. We size for the one that pays, and let the rest stack on top.
Peak shaving
Cap the 30-minute spike that sets your TNB Maximum Demand charge, and cut the biggest line on the bill, every month.
How it worksEnergy arbitrage
Charge off-peak when power is cheap, discharge in the peak window, and pocket the Time-of-Use price difference.
How it worksBackup & resilience
Ride through dips and short outages on critical lines, working alongside your existing UPS and gensets.
How it worksSolar self-consumption
Store surplus rooftop solar instead of exporting it, and use your own clean power when demand is highest.
How it worksHow it all fits together.
The same proven stack, scaled to your site: LFP cabinets store on the DC side, the PCS converts DC↔AC, and the EMS charges and discharges against your load and tariff. With cloud monitoring 24/7. Solar and the TNB grid feed the AC bus.

From PO to commissioned asset.
Two phases: Phase 1 reaches commercial operation (COD) in about 22 weeks, full Phase 2 at roughly 52 weeks: indicative, and aligned to your EPCC programme.

Built and commissioned on your floor.
Our engineers handle the build, from delivery and installation to on-site commissioning. Here is how a UniBess system comes together on a Malaysian site.
Three sites, three use cases.
Whether storage pays — and which use case leads — depends on how your site draws power. Here are three patterns we see often on Malaysian sites. No client names attached.
Extrusion / metal plant
Heavy presses and furnaces spike demand and set the monthly Maximum Demand. BESS targets the 30-minute peak directly. Discharging through start-ups and shift changeovers to cap demand at a lower contracted target. Aggressive MD shaving on a stable, repeatable load.
Food & beverage / cold chain
Compressors and process lines run a broad daytime plateau with refrigeration that can't be interrupted. BESS shaves the plateau and rides the highest ToU windows while the EMS protects cold-chain continuity. Sustained shaving plus energy arbitrage.
Data centre / mission-critical
Near-constant, high base load with strict uptime needs. BESS trims demand peaks and adds resilience alongside existing UPS and gensets, with the EMS dispatching conservatively to preserve reserve. Shaving with reliability headroom, not deep cycling.
How we size it, and why we'll stand behind the number.
Every proposal starts from your real load, never a rule of thumb. We follow the same sequence each time, so the kW, kWh and cabinet count hold up to your client and to TNB.
- 011 · 15-min interval data
We begin with at least 12 months of 15-minute interval metering: the same granularity TNB uses to set Maximum Demand. No interval data, no commitment to a number.
- 022 · Load-profile analysis
We map the daily and seasonal load profile, isolate the peaks that drive the MD charge, and separate repeatable demand from one-off events the BESS should not chase.
- 033 · Target MD → cabinet count + EMS logic
From a target Maximum Demand we derive the discharge power and energy needed, then the cabinet count (125 kW / 261 kWh per unit) and the EMS dispatch logic that holds demand below target every billing window.
- 044 · Safety & thermal margins
We add depth-of-discharge, round-trip-efficiency, degradation and thermal headroom so the system still meets the contracted MD reduction at Year 10. Not just on day one.
Performance Guaranteed
Every UniBess project ships with a written performance contract, capacity retention, round-trip efficiency and availability, underwritten by our supplier and backstopped by us.
